Zee Music Company Signs Punjabi Singer And Actor Noor Chahal
The deal covers solo singles and collaborations through late 2026 and 2027, as the film-heavy label keeps adding original artists to its roster.
Zee Music Company has signed singer-songwriter and actor Noor Chahal, the label announced in mid-October. She will release solo singles and collaborations with the company through the rest of 2026 and into 2027.
Chahal was born and raised in Punjab and found her first listeners through acoustic covers on YouTube and Instagram. Since then there has been screen work too, in the Punjabi films Ikko Mikke and Bajre Da Sitta.
So she comes to the label with two audiences. One found her through a phone screen and a guitar. The other knows her from the cinema.
What the deal covers
The agreement covers solo material, collaborations with other artists and projects across genres, with Zee's distribution network behind the releases.
"Joining Zee Music Company marks an exciting new chapter in my musical journey," Chahal said in a statement. She said she was looking forward to trying new sounds and working with other musicians.
Sujal Parekh, the label's chief business officer, said Zee wants artists with distinct voices and room to develop their own sound. He said it plans to experiment with Chahal and take her music to listeners across India.
Chahal is not the label's first deal of this kind this year. In March it signed Adnan Sami, exclusively for non-film music, to release a series of original singles. In the same announcement it took on composer-producer Qaran, whose "Tareefan" was on the Veere Di Wedding soundtrack in 2018 and whose other hits include "Haaye Oye". Sami, a Padma Shri awardee, is the voice and composer behind Indian pop songs such as "Lift Karade", "Kabhi To Nazar Milao" and "Tera Chehra".

The label's other business
Zee Music Company made its name on Hindi film soundtracks, which are still most of what it releases.
The company started in 2014 as part of Zee Entertainment Enterprises. Non-film signings like this one sit next to the film catalogue, part of a push into original music by artists the label can build over several releases.
The first of Chahal's songs under the deal are due before the end of 2026, with more scheduled through 2027.
