Universal Music India has put two producers from India, one from Chile and one from Venezuela in a room together and given them a single name, IndiLat, for an act built to make Indian and Latin American music. The four are Siddhant Bhatia and Raghav Mehta from India, Cristóbal "Tibo" Gajardo from Chile and Raniero Palm from Venezuela.

It is not an Indian artist guesting on a Latin track, or the reverse. Both traditions are in the group from the first session.

The first single

IndiLat's debut single is "Muévete", a Spanish-language track. It opens on konnakol, the South Indian art of spoken percussion, before sitar, tabla, Latin percussion, guitars, drums and Venezuelan horns come in. The words are mostly Spanish, with a Sanskrit invocation to Ganesha.

Two Venezuelan artists feature on the song: singer Maleh and rapper Akapellah. Production is credited to all four members and to Devraj Sanyal, who heads Universal Music India. Mallika Thakkar, Sakshi Gurnani and Palm are executive producers, and Eduardo Martínez mixed it.

It came out on 25 August, just inside the eligibility window for the next Grammy Awards, which closed around the same point.

Awards on paper

The four have plenty of awards history between them. Palm has a Grammy for Best Children's Music Album from 2024 and two Latin Grammys. Bhatia and Mehta were nominated for Best Global Music Album at the 2026 Grammys for Sounds of Kumbha, another Universal Music India project. Gajardo picked up a nomination this year through his work on a contemporary instrumental album.

Some of those credits overlap. Members of the group had worked together in different combinations before IndiLat had a name.

A group, not a feature

Indian labels trying to reach international charts and awards ballots have mostly paired an established Indian star with a foreign artist for a one-off song. IndiLat starts from producers who already have international credits, and gives them a group name.

Latin music is one of the fastest-growing categories in global streaming, and the first single is in Spanish. Early listening data shared around the launch had Latin American cities, not Indian ones, as its strongest markets so far.
