Shreya Ghoshal Joins Recording Academy As A Grammy Voting Member
Shreya Ghoshal will now vote in the rounds that decide Grammy nominations, as her Unstoppable tour gets ready to open its India leg in Bengaluru on 22 November.

Shreya Ghoshal is now a voting member of the Recording Academy, the body behind the Grammy Awards. She announced it on 19 October, in the middle of the American run of her Unstoppable tour.
Voting members take part in the two rounds that come before the nominations are announced, choosing the recordings they think should make the list. Ghoshal now has a say in that process, from the first round onwards.
In her words
"Music has taken me to places I could have only dreamed of when I first started singing, and I feel incredibly grateful for the journey it has been," she said. "To now be part of the Recording Academy's voting community is a special moment for me."
"Coming from India, where music is so deeply woven into our lives and culture, I feel proud to bring that perspective to this platform," she said.
She began recording at 12, in 1996, and sang her first film song in 2002, for Devdas. Her tour promoter calls her the most-streamed Indian female artist. On Spotify she has more than 50 million monthly listeners, by her tour promoter's count.
The South Asian panel
The membership came soon after Ghoshal sat on a South Asian panel organised by the Academy. With her were Lara Raj of the girl group KATSEYE, the singer Sameer Gadhia, and the musician and composer Raashi Kulkarni.
