Mohanlal's Athimanoharam Gets Its First Song, 'Sundara Ravanan', Sung By M.G. Sreekumar
Jakes Bejoy's first song for Tharun Moorthy's Athimanoharam is out on Sony Music Malayalam, with M.G. Sreekumar singing for Mohanlal before 24 December.
M.G. Sreekumar, a voice Malayalam audiences have heard on Mohanlal songs for decades, sings the first track from the actor's next film. "Sundara Ravanan" from Athimanoharam went up as a lyric video on the Sony Music Malayalam YouTube channel at about 10 am IST on Sunday. Jakes Bejoy composed, arranged and produced it, and B.K. Harinarayanan wrote the words.
The lyric art puts Mohanlal in a sub-inspector's uniform in front of a festival crowd at night. In the film he plays T.S. Lovelajan, an ordinary police sub-inspector, opposite Meera Jasmine, Mathrubhumi reported. It is his second film with director Tharun Moorthy after Thudarum. Retheesh Ravi wrote the screenplay, Ashiq Usman produces under Ashiq Usman Productions, and the film opens in cinemas on 24 December.
Who is on the track
Sony's credit list is long for a lyric video. Anila Rajeev sings additional vocals, Bejoy joins a large backing choir himself, Naveen plays bass and Khalid Naj plays guitar, with Kalyan on rhythm and Shruthi Raj on percussion. It was recorded at Mindscore Studios and MLounge in Kochi and at two Chennai rooms, Sound Town and Vanaj Kesav, then mixed and mastered by Midhun Anand at Mindscore.
Indian Express Malayalam read the lyrics as a portrait of the hero as a protector and a fighter, with flowers, wind, sea and rain standing in for his presence. Bejoy also writes the film's background score.
