Shah Rukh Khan turned 61 with a song. "Tu Mil Jaaye", the first track from Siddharth Anand's King, went up on T-Series' YouTube channel at 12.09 am IST on Monday, 2 November, with Arijit Singh and Madhubanti Bagchi singing a Sachin-Jigar composition and Ed Sheeran on the English verses.

The video, 3 minutes 43 seconds long, pairs Khan with Deepika Padukone on a beachfront and cuts their romance against his character's gunfights. It is their sixth film together. By Monday morning in India it had passed 73 lakh views on the T-Series upload, a joint post with the film's partners, and the video also sits on Zee Music Company's channel. Streaming services carry the audio.

The description on the upload opens with a Hindi couplet about love blooming amid the smell of gunpowder, then: "Of Love and other Battles.... This December, #LoveLikeAKing".

The music deal

T-Series has taken the film's global music rights for 50 years, with the deal running through Zee Music Company, a T-Series spokesperson said in comments reported on 31 October. Neither label has published the price. The two logos sit side by side on the song's artwork.

Singh said on 27 January that he would take no new playback assignments but would finish pending commitments, so his voice could still turn up on film releases this year. We look back at his songs for Shah Rukh Khan, from Chennai Express to this one.

King, produced by Red Chillies Entertainment with Marflix Pictures, is due in cinemas on 24 December. Singh's own stadium tour opens in January, as in our Arijit Singh tour report, and the week's other new songs are on Bollywood.
