LISA Releases 'Press Play', Her First Solo EP, With 'Tarantino'

LISA's six-song 'Press Play' is out through her own company LLOUD with RCA, 20 months after her debut album, with 'SaWaDiKa' and the 'Tarantino' video on it.

The new video opens in a hotel, with LISA running its corridors to hand-deliver a letter to Quentin Tarantino, and taking down whoever stands between her and the door. That clip, for a song called "Tarantino", came out on Friday alongside Press Play, the first solo EP from the BLACKPINK member, released worldwide by LLOUD, the company she set up in 2024, and RCA Records.

There are six songs: "SaWaDiKa", "V12", "Cobra", "Tarantino", "Cut U Off" and "Sweat". No guest artists are billed on the official tracklist. It is her first release in a year and eight months, since the full-length Alter Ego in February 2025.

Built like a film

The title is meant literally. Her Japanese label describes the EP as made in the image of a film, something to sit down with and play through, start to end, the way you would watch one. The "Tarantino" teaser carried the line that ties it together, "It's a movie, baby, come and press play".

"Every single song has their own character, their own vibe and we combine it together," she said on American television this month. "It's like a movie. So you just press play."

Where it starts

The record also goes back to Thailand, where Lalisa Manobal grew up. "SaWaDiKa", the lead single from September, takes the Thai greeting for hello and turns it into a boast, and its video was shot in Bangkok, with Muay Thai boxers and tuk-tuks in the frame. It entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 69, the highest debut of her solo career on that chart.

Her solo catalogue has grown in steps, from the two-song Lalisa in 2021 to Alter Ego, an album built around five personas, and now this shorter, tighter set. Press Play is on all the major streaming platforms in India from Friday, with imported and domestic CDs out in Japan the same day.

Next

In Japan, Sony Music has lined up three launch campaigns, including a streaming drive on LINE MUSIC where fans who play "Tarantino" more than 500 times go into a draw for a signed instant photo, one of two in the world.

Her first Las Vegas residency, Viva La Lisa, opens in November.
