Olivia Rodrigo And Chappell Roan Team Up On 'Expectations' Remix
Dan Nigro produced it, David Byrne hosts the game-show video, and the single is out on Interscope with 7-inch vinyl, CD and cassette editions.

David Byrne, in a host's suit, asks three Olivia Rodrigos a little bit about how they got here, and then Chappell Roan walks onto a set built like an old family quiz show to face them down. That is the video for the new "expectations" remix, which Rodrigo released through Interscope Records on 15 October, with Roan on a fresh verse.
It is the first time Roan has featured on another artist's song. The single lists two tracks and runs seven minutes, and streaming platforms carry it under both names.
The song and the producer
The original "expectations" sits on you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, Rodrigo's third album, released in June. Her label says it opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 485,000 units in its first week, the biggest solo debut of 2026, and topped charts in 17 countries.
Dan Nigro, who produced that album and has worked with both singers for years, produced the remix too. He also turns up at the end of the video holding a phone the size of a brick.
"This is obviously my first feature," Roan said on Apple Music. "I've never done this before, so it feels perfect to me."
She said the song drew her in because it put "a pretty difficult concept within the pop song", the kind of writing she likes best.

The video
Bardia Zeinali directed it. The two singers play different characters on The Big Expectations Show, moving through games lifted from 1980s and 1990s television, with Byrne as the host, Johnny Johnson. Rodrigo appears three times over, in three different outfits, and the sets borrow openly from Family Feud and Hollywood Squares.
Roan's verse is new, and it changes the story of the song a little, with a line about a date who took her to a concert, front row, and never called back.
Formats
The remix is on all the major streaming platforms in India, and the original album version stays on the record as it was. The pairing has some history: Roan performed at Daisy Chain Fields, the women-led festival Rodrigo started this year, before the two ever shared a track. Limited 7-inch vinyl, CD and cassette editions are on sale through both artists' official stores.
